Martin Willoughby has over 20 years’ broad pharma and consumer healthcare experience across a number of senior global roles with Wyeth, Pfizer and GSK.  He has significance experience in the development and manufacturing of vitamins, minerals and supplement (VMS) product in addition to particular expertise in botanicals and natural products – as such he had served as a director for a number of VMS industry organizations in the UK and broader Europe.  With a passion for creativity and collaboration, his career highlights include:

  • New Product Design, Development and Commercialization: Leading a cross-functional team of formulators, analysts and packaging scientists, he has significant global experience in the development and registration  of consumer-focused products within food supplement, OTC/NDA (CMC development) and medical device categories.
  • Manufacturing Science and Technology (MS&T): Development and fostering of strong partnerships between Supply Chain and Global R&D organizations to ensure a smooth and efficient transition of products from development center to production line.
  • Regulatory Conformance: Has led a number of initiatives on OTC/NDA products and dietary supplements to ensure sustainable alignment of chemistry, manufacturing and controls (CMC) requirements with their registration dossiers and regulatory requirements.
  • Strategy Development and Execution:  As Senior Director of Network Design and Sourcing, worked for both Pfizer and GSK consumer healthcare developing dynamic internal/external manufacturing network strategies to optimize customer service, improve supply chain efficiency, maximize return on invested capital across supply networks.
  • Business Development: Globally leadership of teams to identify supply chain cost synergies and enable OTC and dietary supplement acquisition deals in Asia and Europe. Completed deals including acquisition of the Italian Be-Total brand from Johnson and Johnson, licensing of Chinese Zyrtec distribution from UCB and acquisition of the Treerly portfolio of health products from Sirio (China).
  • Digital Supply Chain:  Responsible for leading the design and implementation of GSK Consumer Healthcare’s digital supply chain transformation strategy.  Project lead and product owner for the agile design, implementation and global deployment of a digital supply chain visibility solution using a combination of SAP, logistics data feed, Azure data lake technology and software as a service (SaaS) visualisation applications.
